1. DAILY DETOX
Lemon is a powerful antibacterial and when ingested it counteracts the acidity in your system and makes the stomach more alkaline. It also stimulates the action of the white blood cells. It also has a tonic effect on the circulatory system.
I like to add a couple drops of Lemon Essential Oil to my ice water for a natural, daily cleanse. Plus it tastes great. *And be sure to use a glass when drinking citrus oils. They can actually break down plastic over time, and you don’t want to drink any of those plastic chemicals. Read my blog post about Glass vs. Plastic (The clear advantage!)
2. SUPPORT IMMUNE SYSTEM
On Guard is dōTERRA’s unique, proprietary blend formulated to support healthy immune function. Wild orange essential oil, combined with Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary offer a fragrant, natural and effective alternative to synthetic options for immune support.
Try this Immune-Boosting Tonic:
The juice of one organic lemon, or 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil
1-2 tsp. organic honey (you could use maple syrup or agave nectar)
2 drops of OnGuard essential oil
12-16 oz. hot water
Mix ingredients together in a hot beverage mug and enjoy! This is a great blend to make daily during flu season.
3. AWAKEN & ENERGIZE
Wild Orange just like all the citrus oils, are great to add to your drinking water. It has an uplifting, rich, fruity, and at the same time a very calming aroma. I consider it my bottle of sunshine. Wild Orange also aids in maintaining normal cellular regeneration.
When you need to perk-up mid-day (instead of grabbing another cup of coffee) reach for your Wild Orange. 1-2 drops of wild orange, combined with 1 drop of peppermint added to you water will not only awaken you, but lift your spirits and give you a boost of energy. This is a great blend to use right before a workout!

4. CURB APPETITE
Grapefruit is a very energizing and reviving scent. Grapefruit has diuretic and detoxifying properties and has historically been used to treat cellulite. It has unique fat-dissolving characteristics just like many cold-pressed citrus oils. It also has anti-depressant properties. Grapefruit may also have a cleansing effect on the kidneys, the lymphatic system, and the vascular system.
Add a couple drops of Grapefruit to your water in between meals to curb your appetite, and cut back on snacking. Plus adding grapefruit encourages you to drink your water throughout the day, which is always a good thing, but especially if you’re trying to lose a few pounds.
5. HELP DIGESTION
A little acid reflux? Grab your peppermint. With it’s strong, sharp, minty and refreshing aroma, it is one of the most effective oils for the digestive system. Peppermint essential oil helps with obstructions of the bile ducts, gall bladder inflammations and severe liver damage. The aroma is very potent and concentrated, so you only need 1 drop when adding to water. You can also dip a toothpick in the peppermint bottle first and then swirl it around in the water for a less intense effect.
Add a drop of peppermint with 2 drops of lemon in a half glass of water for a refreshing mouth rinse. Have a sip of peppermint in your water right before a heavy meal that may give you stomach issues later. Note: some people feel that peppermint worsens acid reflux.
