I have always enjoying mixing up my own sugar scrubs to exfoliate my skin during the dry chilly winter months, BUT, once I began using dōTERRA essential oils- they took my sugar scrubs to a whole new level! Not only are sugar scrubs now exfoliating, they can be uplifting, calming, moisturizing, soothing and so much more with the use of dōTERRA essential oils! Not only is this great to have made up for your own home, but it’s an awesome hostess gift or just thinking of you gift for a good friend. It’s inexpensive and easy to make up 🙂 Tie some raffia or a bow around your sugar scrub jar and it makes a beautiful present that comes from your heart.
Here is what you’ll need to build your own sugar scrub!
80% sugar/20% oil
Step 1: Pick a sugar
Start with a base. White, brown, or raw sugar! White sugar is very fine, brown is more coarse, and raw sugar is the coarsest sugar which can be used for a maximum exfoliation sugar scrub! Picking your sugar is the first step!
Step 2: Pick a carrier oil
A carrier oil is not an essential oil. A few examples of carrier oils are: coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, grape seed oil or sunflower oil! Optional add in’s, vitamin E oil, honey, vanilla, and/or spices
Step 3: Pick an EO Combo
Pick your choice of a dōTERRA essential oil to add to your sugar scrub! Creativity is key- you really can’t go wrong with adding any essential oil to your sugar scrub! Below are a few ideas for those of you that are drawing a blank!
Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub
1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup oil, PLUS 10-20 drops Lime Essential Oil
Dreamsicle Sugar Scrub
1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup oil, PLUS 10-20 drops Wild Orange or Citrus Bliss Essential Oil
Mint Sugar Scrub
Sweet Lavender or Sweet Serenity Sugar Scrub
Combine your base sugar, carrier oil, and essential oil in an airtight glass jar and keep near the shower or sink and use daily to exfoliate and moisturize your skin!
